The Problem

The Problem

Students at the university spend most of their break time waiting in cafeteria queues. Research showed the majority reported crowding during break hours, many had been late to class because of queues, and most had no way to check the menu or crowd level before leaving class — making every meal decision reactive and time-costly.

Design Approach

Design Approach

The project followed the Double Diamond process across 4 weeks. User surveys and interviews shaped two core personas and a journey map that exposed where time was lost. The solution centered on three flows: pre-ordering, real-time crowd visibility via AI-linked campus cameras, and order tracking. Nafath integration removes the need for account creation. The menu switches automatically by meal period, and students can choose pickup, dine-in, or peer delivery at checkout. Validated through remote usability testing with 6 university students.

Outcome

Outcome

A functional prototype covering the full student ordering journey — from Nafath login to order tracking — with a design system built on DIN Next LT Arabic for RTL consistency.
