The Problem

The Problem

Users managing stress and sleep issues found existing mental health apps too limited — offering generic content with no personalization and nothing to sustain long-term engagement. The challenge was designing one platform that adapts to the user's emotional state and keeps them coming back.

Design Approach

Design Approach

The sprint moved through six phases: research, define, sketch, decide, prototype, and validate. User interviews and a 27-participant survey identified core pain points. HMW questions shaped the solution direction, and Crazy 8's sessions generated the feature concepts. The final design centered on mood-based activity recommendations, an AI chatbot, and gamification elements — tested across 3 usability sessions.

Outcome

Outcome

Usability testing showed all 3 participants found the app easy to navigate. 2 of 3 found the personalized suggestions relevant to their needs. One friction point identified: users felt overwhelmed by the mental assessment questions — flagged as a clear next iteration.
